Best before dates

Updated: Jun 30, 2023

Supermarkets have started taking action in the battle against food waste.

Best before dates are no longer on fresh produce, this movement has been set out to help customers save money and reduce food waste, encouraging customers to use their own judgement on the freshness of the produce rather than going by the 'best before' dates.

Waste & Resources Action Programme (WRAP) states that 4.5 million tonnes of edible food is thrown away each year. There could be a number of reasons why food waste is so easily disposed of, but there is so many ways we can help to reduce this figure.

- Plan your meals

- Save and reuse leftovers

- Compost

- Freeze your food
