The government has announced the official ban of the purchasing of halogen and fluorescent light bulbs.
What is the aim?
Due to increasing efforts of tackling climate change, the government aims to ban halogen and fluorescent lights from Sept 23, cutting consumer costs on energy bills and also cutting emissions.
What you need to do now?
LED lighting has been proven to be significantly more energy efficient, and by replacing all bulbs with LEDs, it is estimated that power consumption can be reduced by up to 60%.
How does this affect you going forward?
All light bulbs will now contain new labels on the packaging, rating the bulbs from A-G, helping you purchase the most environmentally friendly bulbs.
How to dispose of your old bulbs?
Old bulbs and light tubes are classed as hazardous waste so these items cannot be placed in a general waste bin, these must be dealt with be a specialist
